A Guide || Paris on Foot

1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th arrondisements

Shopping and strolling the Right Bank

It’s one of the questions I get asked most frequently - “What’s your favorite place in Paris?" With it arguably being home, I set aside time to create a list of other favorites. Though I write down places for people as I go, it has been easier to have this reference page! These are the places I keep coming back to as a local, having spent years exploring the city, most of which are inexpensive or free. One thing I do suggest is doing a bit of research on places I mention (one of my favorite ways is to look up the location on Instagram, for example). Paris, just like any city, is always changing and I’ll try to keep suggestions up to date. There are 20 districts in Paris, each with their own character, charm and multiple fresh markets. This post covers the Premier district, le Marais and picnicking the natural islands.  I hope you'll enjoy both my recommendations and your time in one of my favorite cities in the world.

If you only have time for one thing: Notre-Dame de Paris, Kilomètre Zéro, and Square de la Place Dauphiné. Go during the week to access a much shorter line into this stunning cathedral.  Many do not know entry into the historic cathedral is actually free of charge. Also, just outside Notre Dame is the official center of the city, marked by a bronze star.  On the opposite corner of the island, you will find Square de la Place Dauphiné and everything in between.   This whole island is so peaceful and makes for the prettiest walk.
